What is Cisco Packet Tracer?

This blog will describe you the practical experience that I have obtained in hands on experience in using  Cisco Packet Tracer Software under the subject of Data Communications and Computer Networks (we simply call it DCCN). Let's start with it.

Introduction to Routers

Router is a network layer device that uses one or more metrics to determine the optimal path along which network traffic should be forwarded. Routers forward packets from one network to another based on network layer information. Occasionally this called as gateway.

 CISCO Routers

Cisco is one of the world leading manufactures of routers and many other communication equipments.

CISCO 805

 CISCO 1700 SERIES

throughout this practical series, i will be explaining the router configurations using Cisco Packet Tracer (version 5.2) software. Now, you will surely have the following question, won't you?

What actually is this Cisco Packet Tracer?

Cisco Packet Tracer is a powerful network simulation program that allows students to experiment with network behavior and ask “what if” questions. As an integral part of the Networking Academy comprehensive learning experience, Packet Tracer provides simulation, visualization, authoring, assessment, and collaboration capabilities and facilitates the teaching and learning of complex technology concepts.

Packet Tracer supplements physical equipment in the classroom by allowing students to create a network with an almost unlimited number of devices, encouraging practice, discovery, and troubleshooting. The simulation-based learning environment helps students develop decision making, creative and critical thinking, and problem solving. Packet Tracer complements the Networking Academy curricula.

Simply speaking, this allows you to configure routers and networks with the aid of a command line interface. you will realize the ease of working with it as you go along with this series of blogs.

Ok, now I think you had a brief idea of what we are going to do next... of course, we need to know how to install Cisco Packet Tracer Software. Read the next blog to clarify any doubts in the installation
